Justin Sapp was a Special Forces captain detailed to the CIA shortly after the 9/11 attacks. He infiltrated Northern Afghanistan with CIA’s Team Alpha and was the first solider to go behind Taliban lines in 2001.

Shortly after arriving in Northern Afghanistan, Justin joined CIA officers Johnny “Michael” Spann and Mark Rausenberger to form ‘Badger Six’, a three-man element that split off from Team Alpha and deployed to Bamian Province to support Northern Alliance leaders from the Hazara community who were besieged by the Taliban. Justin served as a pathfinder for Badger Six and was responsible for reconnoitering helicopter landing zones for the CIA and Special Forces teams that would infiltrate central Afghanistan to support the Hazara leaders fighting the Taliban.

Since 2001, Justin has made numerous deployments to Afghanistan and the Middle East where he served at various levels of command and staff within Special Forces. Colonel Sapp remains on active duty and currently serves as the Military Chief of Staff at the U.S. Mission to the United Nations in New York.
